It's another one of those days

29 December 2008

Where you just sit down and talk nonsense all day long, crack jokes, snap random photos, run up to random strangers and tap them on the shoulder just to smile at them, wear springy Christmas hats, speak chinese.

And well, just have fun.

(insert cliched line here for joy and happiness)

Home!

23 December 2008

Well that's the thing about home - you can be away for so long: days, weeks, months, or even years. But once you get back, it's as though you have never left in the first place.

Promo: LOUD Christmas!

10 December 2008

This face will ring a bell in most of your heads.

Many apologies for the very unflattering picture but it was the most not-unflattering picture I could find from her website.

Well the look aside, Juwita Suwito has always been THE local artist for me. Ever since seeing her performing in HUGE Camp way back in 2004, I have tried downloading a few tracks that she sung (I only managed to download one in the end), and I thought that she was pretty good!

So after saving up an amount of cash, I bought her first album - titled Brand New World in 2005 for Rm28. If you knew me then, I would've rather skinned myself than to spend that kind of money on anything, but I bought it, and I was definitely not disappointed with her amazing vocal performance on that CD.

"If there were singers, there were singers. Juwita Suwito is more than a singer, songwriter and overall superstar to many.. she's also a friend. Thanks for never forgetting us Juwita! Your fan, stan. I mean JFK"
- JFK (Hitz.FM)

Well, after a period of being on hiatus(?), I finally saw her again, this time right at my doorstep - in HSG's International Music Night. There, she sang her awesome power-packed rendition of Rihanna's Umbrella, which I am still desperately trying to find it on youtube, imeem - everywhere! up until now.

And who would have guessed that four months down the road, I will be seeing her again, at the same place?

This December 19th, Juwita Suwito is in the house, performing live at HSG KL! With tickets priced dirt cheap at Rm8 - Rm15, you have GOT to be kidding me if you say you would rather be doing something else.

And of course, the other notable artist who will be in the same place, performing alongside Juwita is our homegrown R&B artist, Liang.

It's a little tricky to find his name if you google it up, because of many other well-known figures like Guang Liang or even Zhuge Liang. But from what I have heard, he is one of Malaysia's more prominent artists.

Liang has won the AIM award, which is the highest honors in music as far as Malaysia is concerned. Well, if he can win that, he has to be something, right?

I personally am not such a big fan of R&B music, but you can still check out his music video, and you decide for yourself.

This December 19th: Loud Christmas... It ain't going to be a silent night.

It's the 6th day

And I'm still home alone!

What is wrong with the world?!! AHHHHHH!!

Well, according to elder sis, dad's confirmed coming back today, but the rest of them are going to be half here and half there, so they're not even sure if they want to come back and save me from eating out again or not.

But overall, I feel pretty proud of myself for surviving the past 6 days! Over the almostweek, I've learnt to:

1. COOK!
2. Clean up other people's mess. Pffpth, melancholy me coming up from within.
3. Sleep alone in an otherwise empty house. Well to be honest, I was just too freaking tired to do anything else but crash. But it counts okay!
4. Do my own laundry! I officially hate ironing clothes by the way. I need more clothes that require minimum ironing. Ish.
5. Do SOMETHING apart from being online for 6 hours straight in a single day.
6. Play cash flow!
7. I would've added something here but I'll kill myself before I let any of you know about it.
8. Read fast! I can read 1.8 times faster than the average human with the same comprehension rate. Heh heh heh.

I feel so accomplished =)

Well...

Me & McDonalds

07 December 2008

Fine, so I'm too lazy to cook my own dinner.

I was just calling McDonalds' delivery service earlier, and they put me on the usual annoying waiting tone. And it was interesting because the conversation went something like this.

Pre-recorded voice: Please be notified that your call will be used for training and monitoring purposes as we continue to serve you better. Please hold while we place your call in queue.

*annoying music plays*

*annoying music loops*

Pre-recorded voice: I'm sorry, all of our call agents are busy at the moment. Please hold on.

*annoying music plays again*

*annoying music loops again*

Pre-recorded voice: I'm sorry, all of our call agents are still busy. Please hold on.

*annoying music again*

*loops again*

Pre-recorded voice: Traffic is very heavy at the moment. Thank you for your patience.

*annoying music plays*

And FINALLY! someone picked up my call! You have got to love McDonalds for that. The best part about the whole event was that after I placed my order and put down the phone, I suddenly received a call on my handphone only a few minutes later.

Guy from McDonalds: Hello Mr Joseph, we are sorry but we seem to be sold out of what your ordered for.

Whoo!

iThink...

Therefore iCook.

If you remember some time ago, I attempted to put burger patties into bread instead of the burger bun.

Didn't turn out too well.

I had always been intrigued by cooking: How was it that those people in restaurants can cook with seemingly the same things i use to cook at home, and theirs always taste better?

When the mamak guy cooks Maggi Goreng, it always turns out well.

When I cook Maggi Goreng, it becomes a blackened lump of viscous, sticky... thing.

When Pastor Cheah cooks fish, the plate is licked clean.

When I cook fish... well actually i've never dared to try.

So about an hour ago I was in a dilemma: Order McDs, Order Nandos, or heat up last night's food?

McDs is not filling enough, Nandos demand that I order mroe than Rm25 worth before they're willing to deliver it over here, and last night's food... is, well, last night's food.

So inspired by a Nando's recipe, I decided to try my hand at making cheese-baked rice. No one's at home, so no one's gonna complain ahahaha.

After a lot of pots and pans and cackling oil later, my cheese-fried rice came out! Yeah, I know it was supposed to be cheese-baked rice, but the oven is so worn out that I don't know which knob is which anymore. I figured that frying is just as good as baking.

Well what to say... it came out much better than I expected it to! =D Apart from the overwhelming cheesiness (or is it supposed to taste like that?) it turned out to be a great meal! =)

I'm gonna cook again tomorrow! Ahaha run younglings run
Jo

iThink...

04 December 2008

I am going to spend the next 5 days alone! =O

My family is leaving tomorrow at 9am (says my mom. I bet they're going to leave at 11am earliest gahahaha) for Bekok in Johor until Tuesday afternoon.

And I'll be left all alone! *audience gasp*

Well on the bright side, I can start doing all those things that I should have been doing through the week. One of which includes me finding something to wear for prom!

Anyone wants to go shopping? =D

SPM is over!!

...now what?
