First day of the rest of my life

05 January 2009

And I'm feeling great!

If you have known me long enough, you will know that my physical fitness is at a most appalling state. And it is a simple proven fact out of many experiences in the past.

My mom once told me a very scary thing about my family's medical history: high blood pressure on her side, and high cholestrol on my dad's side.

Dang, I had better get started with exercising before I die young. So here is the deal so far:

2001: PE lesson. Ran two laps around the field (400m), stopped short and vomited.
2004: Jogathon. Ran a full 2km before finally giving in and walked the rest of the way.
2005: Jogathon again. Managed to jog right up until the finishing line was in sight, and nearly blacked out just short of it.

But well, all things have to start anew right? After being so inspired at how Kenny Sia ran the 42km marathon, I thought jogging was an easy feat, I mean like, if he can do it, I most definitely can!

After 20 minutes, I swear that I can fill a swimming pool with my sweat. My leg muscles were all tensed up, I was sweating profusely, I was seeing lights dancing in front of my eyes, and gosh I think I'm hearing voices too.

How can a fat bloke run so much longer than me??!!

I suppose I can blame it on my asthma that I have had since I was 2. I probably can blame it on the fact that the canvas shoes I was wearing were just not made for running. I can say that the sun was in my eyes. There were dogs on the way. I was carrying a key in one hand which bothered the perfect alignment of my body and caused my body to lose energy faster.

Or I'm just not fit, lah.

Well tomorrow is another day of the same thing. Anyone wants to join me?

Out of breath,
Jo

What time is it?

01 January 2009

Time to sleep, that's what.

You're probably hoping for another short entry, and yes your wishes have all come true. I should be typing out some documentary of my life so far in 2008, or making up new year resolutions, or burning down houses by letting loose wild fireworks.

But no.

Keeping it short and simple, in 2008 I have been at my highest, and I have been at my lowest too.

And 2009 is going to redefine that on a whole new level.

I'll see you when you get there,
Jo

Windows Live Writer?

18 November 2008

This shall be my first post. My very very first post editing directly from Windows Live Writer Beta.

If you have no idea what that is, I understand. Just a few days ago I was on Kennysia.com, and he said something like “Bill Gates told me to tell you that the new Windows Live Messenger is awesome, so go and download it”

Well, so I did.

The new messenger looks awesome, alright – after quite a bit of customization. While I was trying to install it, came a whole flurry of other programs that wanted to be downloaded together with it as well.

Windows Live Toolbar… nah.
Windows Live Phonecall… nah.
Windows Live Video Conferencing… nah.

Then I saw this thing called Windows Live Writer, and I was curious, of course. So I took a look at it and it said it will help me create beautiful blog posts. It was only about 20MB, so I tried it out.

So what do you all think?

PS. This entry was written and published at 6pm Malaysian time, I’m setting it to appear tomorrow. So let’s see if this works. Shall elaborate more on its features AKA what can it do that blogger cannot when I have used it to its fullest extent.

Ordinary Miracles

30 October 2008

So you see that I've added a new tab to my entries.

Well how do I say this... I feel that it is something very practical and very, very relevant especially in today's world. Amidst all the gloom, doom and bloom, we need something that we can hold on to - something that we can look upon and it sheds light into our vision, giving hope for tomorrow.

We need something that we can look back upon and really know that God is indeed good. We need the assurance that no matter what happens, there are these little moments that we can take and draw inspiration from.

Because there comes a time when you need to stop and smell the roses. No one has ever conquered Mount Everest and not take in the view from the summit. No one has ever took to the skies without gazing out into the clouds in wonder.

Write your worries in sand; carve your blessings on stone.

*

It’s not that unusual
When everything is beautiful
It’s just another ordinary miracle today

The sky knows when its time to snow
Don’t need to teach a seed to grow
It’s just another ordinary miracle today

Life is like a gift they say
Wrapped up for you everyday
Open up and find a way
To give some of your own

Isn’t it remarkable
Like every time a rain drop falls
It’s just another ordinary miracle today

Birds in winter have their fling
But always make it home by spring
It’s just another ordinary miracle today

When you wake up everyday
Please don’t throw your dreams away
Hold them close to your heart
Cause we’re all a part
Of the ordinary miracle
Ordinary miracle

It seems so exceptional
That things just work out after all
It’s just another ordinary miracle today

Sun comes up and shines so bright
And disappears again at night
It’s just another ordinary miracle today

Restoration and detoxification

24 August 2008

While the rest of the world watches the closing ceremony of probably THE most memorable Olympics ever...

It would be a good time for me to blog about Church Camp '08 while my mom is busy watching it. Heheheh.

This year's camp was by far one of my most memorable experiences ever. What with the food poisoning, half-basketball court, green swimming pool, Rm7 per hour only! internet connection, wild boars, dinner plate-sized moths and the giant TV at reception.

Just one of those times when I wish I had a camera.

The only other church camp that I went to was way back in 2004 in Cameron Highlands, where my snoring deprived Pastor Reuben of sleep for nights in a row. And in his own words,

"Jo Ng, go away. Go far, far away"

So after 4 years, I am finally back where it all started!

Will be back as soon as I get some pictures to show you.

To be continued,
Jo

First?

13 July 2008

I'm so sorry to all you xanga users out there who are still passionately devoted to xanga blogs, but life goes on, see.

So let me set a few standards here before I start on anything (This is not a real post).
1. I will not start numbering my posts eg. post number 1, post number 2 etc etc etc
2. I will not post emo-fying stuff here. Stone me if I do.
3. I will not harass, publically demoralize or insult anyone using this blog.
4. I will, even at the risk of sounding cheezy, post every single thing worth acknowledging and shouting about by my standards.
5. I will not attempt to kill all your eyes by posting up endless photos of myself. Let's just say that the camera and I don't agree with each other half the time.

Now that that's all dealt with, let us move on to some happier stuff.

Song lead for the (I've lost count)-th time in MKC todady, and oh boy I was actually having some weird mixture of gases in my stomach at that time =S I KNEW it was the curry last night. Pffpth. But halfway through the worship the Holy Spirit just prompted me to make a statement which more or less went like this.

"If you are going to be disturbing each other, making noises and stuff like that, feel free - but know that God is here right now, and whatever you do, he is watching. What are you doing, knowing that God is watching you right now?"

And it works like magic wei! Almost immediately the kids all sat down and started concentrating (Well, almost all of them who at least have brains to think) and after that the teacher was like saying "Wow Joseph, you're improving week after week!"

Haha! Praise God that everything worked out even though we only had like 20 minutes to practice =P

Oh oh, and I've figured out a genius way to end my posts this time.
